The plans beyond my 6 month contract were overtaken by the onset of the pandemic in 2020.
RMIT is an international university of technology, design and enterprise. When I joined there was a dedicated ‘Student Experience Lab’ which accommodated Service Design teams working on Customer Experience projects for students. The Service Designers and UX Designers were in the Marketing Department.
RMIT’s ‘IA Optimisation’ project was to gather evidence and propose a new Information Architecture to guide the redesign for the public facing RMIT website. The audience were prospective and existing students. Navigation was a known problem, with students typically using external Google searches to locate the information they needed.
